Early in the morning, I make my way towards the gym and spend some time on the exercycle. I have not run for 25 years and the extremely short notice has not given me any time to prepare myself. I just hope this session at the gym will do me some good.

After a briefing session at the Crystal Ballroom, we check out of the hotel. Our day's itinerary is already fixed -- we are to tour Atlanta before we make our way to the airport in the evening. Our sightseeing trip includes a dekko at the World of Coca Cola, Underground Atlanta and the Coke Olympic City -- the Olympics Village recreated with the help of virtual reality.

We lunch out and, by about 3.30 or 4.00 in the evening, we make our way to the airport. We are to catch the 5.45 Delta flight to a small town called Savannah, which will be our base for the duration of the run.

We reach Savannah in the evening, just in time for dinner, before we crash out.
