NDA asks Vajpayee to decide on polls

January 08, 2004 20:59 IST

National Democratic Alliance leaders on Thursday authorised Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to decide whether to call for early Lok Sabha polls.

"The NDA leaders expressed total confidence in the prime minister's wisdom in deciding the dates for the polls," NDA convenor George Fernandes said after a meeting in New Delhi.

Vajpayee asked NDA allies to prepare for polls, Fernandes said.

Asked whether there would be a vote on account, he said the issue did not figure.
