Manik Sarkar sworn in as Tripura CMCommunist Party of India-Marxist central committee member Manik Sarkar was sworn in as the Tripura chief minister on Wednesday. This is the second successive Left Front ministry in Tripura. Seventeen ministers, all of cabinet rank, took the oath of office with Sarkar at Raj Bhavan. The Communist Party of India and Revolutionary Socialist Party, the CPI-M's allies, have got one berth each in the ministry. Addressing a gathering near Raj Bhavan, the new chief minister appealed to the tribal guerrillas to join the mainstream. Meanwhile, former deputy chief minister Baidyanath Majumdar was elected secretary of the state CPI-M committee. Of Sarkar's cabinet colleagues, three ministers took oath in the tribal Kokborok language, four in English and the rest in Bengali. UNI
